Yay! We watched it’s a Wonderful Life yesteday!!! Three cheers!
Hey, did anyone notice that tomorrow is “Christmas”???? (Over enthusiastic grin). Because I did! I also noticed that no one is around since Mom is sleeping, Thol is at physical therapy, and Dad is putting away firewood. And I had a strange morning (at least for me), because I never do anything without eating or drinking tea first. But I did. I searched around the house for a Tupperware lid that Dad couldn’t find, and I failed that. Then I took out the compost, and then ran frolicking around the house because there is snow on the ground (there also is a frozen pond in front of the shed) (and hey! My three onions are still ALIVE!). Then I looked at the mail (Why is there mail on Christmas Eve?) and saw THREE gardening magazines! Hip-hip-hooary! (Whoa, Alp, little excited there?)
Have you ever had the exciting, thrilling feeling of looking through the first gardening magazines? When the sun is shining outside, and you suddenly have on over eagerness to work in your garden notebook, make planes, and start writing down and cutting out from the magazines of what you want to plant?
That happened to me today.
It’s Christmas Eve! Stay in the Present Moment!
But tomatoes! Purple and gold striped potatoes! Russian potatoes! Purple dragon carrots! Dragon tongue beans! White pumpkins! Limitless kinds of salad greens! Beautiful eggplants! Basil! Sage! Sweet peas! Onions that overwinter can grow up to five inches in diameter! Oh the humanity! Give me a break!
Ok……(sigh)
Anyway. We saw the HOBBIT!!!!
Gandalf: “I’m going to the only person who has any sense around here!”
Bilbo: “Who’s that?”
Gandalf: “MYSELF!”
I loved that line….On other Christmas-y news, I tried baking cookies on saturday. They….well….melted, in the oven. They actually melted. I decided not to make anymore cookies this year. I think it’s because I messed up on the butter. I do not like whipping butter. I’ll stick to bread making. And guess what we accomplished yesterday! We cleaned the house, decorated it, and Mom made four different kinds of quick breads all in one day! From noon to ten! (Of course I cleaned the bathroom before that, and tried to spiff up my room a bit (it’s in reconstruction)and forgot tp vaccum…oh well…).
So, an early Merry Christmas! God bless us, Everyone!
